Jeremy Corbyn on Freeing Julian Assange, the Working Class, Brazil, Peru & Ending Ukraine War

In Washington, D.C., human rights and free speech advocates gather today for the Belmarsh Tribunal, focused on the imprisonment of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. Assange has been languishing for close to four years in the harsh Belmarsh prison in London while appealing extradition to the United States on espionage charges. If convicted, Assange could face up to 175 years in jail for publishing documents that exposed war crimes in Iraq and Afghanistan. Five major news organizations that once partnered with WikiLeaks recently called on the Biden administration to drop charges against Assange. We speak to British MP and former Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn, who is in Washington, D.C., to participate in the Belmarsh Tribunal, about Assange and freedom of the press. We also cover the state of leftism around the globe, from labor rights in the U.K. and Europe to the war in Ukraine, to political unrest in Brazil and Peru.

  1. Here we witness the power of evil governments around the world , protecting the world's populations from seeing the evil of their pathetic governments .

  2. What Julian Assange, did was the equivalent of reporting a rapist , how can the police think anyone can report a crime or truth when they do this. Obviously this was at a higher level but my analogy I think stands true here . Do you report it or don’t you report it. Be careful before making the world free for all journalists must be able to tell the truth no matter how awful it is , those crimes were done in the voters names .

  3. Navalny is languishing in Russian prison just as Assange is doing in British prison. What country in the world protects the freedom of expression??? Not the USA do so nor the UK.

  4. Pedro Castillo was impeached and removed from power by the Peruvian Congress after he attempted a coup d’etat to avoid justice for several corruption indictments. Mr. Corbyn, please do not misinform the public about the current Peruvian crisis to push your political agenda.

  5. mafia does not like that citizens come to know what truth is.. mafia in the government, in the army and in the police. beware of mafia. they are in the process of destroying our world.

  6. An important video. Thank you. This will help in acknowledging an operation in the United Kingdom and beyond. It has been added to a curio.

  7. I dont buy USA anymore ie Amazon McDonalds Starbucks and others i discover that treat staff lik dirt and the same for chinese british swedish that i can boycott. Not easy.

  8. I listened to a load of crap earlier today from Andrew Bustamente on Lex Fridman re Snowden.

  9. Too bad you blew your credibility. How many years now have you occluded the truth of these times?. Too little, too late.
Sad. RIP. Democracy then.. Clicks Now. Say goodbye Amy.

  10. Brazil calling riot's Extreme Fascists, tells me that is everything bar the Truth! These corrupt politicians are everywhere and they love to smear the character of good everyday citizens who've had enough of political parties disgraceful corruption. And fight.
Cudos to the Freedom Fighters and Truth Tellers of the world.

  11. democracy now helped facilitate the unlawful treatment of assange by spreading unfounded comspiracy theories about him being a trump-russia aligned secret agent. fuck democracy now!

  12. Honestly Jeremy … you MUST KNOW that this war is really NATO vs RUSSIA in order to breakup Russia and lay hands in it’s resources. Putin tried time and time again for peace talks but USA, EU, NATO ET AL kept turning fown any chance of peace. Yet you blame Putin alone??? You feel pity for Ukranians alone?? You sound biased against Putin and Russia. But then you, like your UK, are “chums” with America, so guess we should ecoect no different. Let’s see what your chums do with Julian Assange!

  13. This is the Corbyn I liked. Shame he couldn't stick to his instincts and moral when it came to Brexit. He was the biggest critic of the EU within parliament for the best part of a decade. Yet he caved into the globalist remainers.

  14. Democracy Now has a poor record fairly covering Assange. Some at the Grey Zone think Now owes him a formal apology.

  15. The us and us military complex that wants him extradited are not one and the same thing. He should be freed as he has nothing done wrong but show crimes. The us just has to much skeletons in their closet and thought they were untouchable. They aren’t.

  16. It was a sad day for the country when you were not elected PM and the campaign ,from our free press, against you was despicable. This showed me how near we are getting to fascism. We can now see how the British people, mainly the english , voted for these charlatans into power under the nonsense of 'we will get brexit done.' It seems ,you CAN fool most of the people most of the time. We have had tory governments over the past hundred years for , I believe, 60 to 70% of the time and if their ideology was good we would not be in the mess we are now. We definitely need PR but I doubt whether it will happen because both parties don't want it no matter what they say.

  17. why is jeremy corbyn over in the states? He doesn't represent anybody with any influence in the uk. Having him on your side is suicide.

  18. Assange is right, WE THE PEOPLE should know what our government is doing. Assange isn't a criminal, as we see how J6 prisoners are being treated, they went thru a kangaroo court. Free Assange and J6 prisoners.

  19. Funny how free democratic societies would lock up a man for just journalism. We truly do live in strange times.

  20. Assange broke his bail conditions. Corbyn, Ken Loach And Vivienne Westwood lost £25,000 each. He entered self imposed house arrest in the Embassy of a country that persecuted journalists. In Ecuador any criticism of the Government or negative reporting is considered personal criminal slander against the President personally. Newspapers have been closed, journalists jailed for being unable to pay the fines imposed. Assange didn’t utter a word about this. He couldn’t give a flying fuck about press freedom.

  21. Im not pro bolsonaro and Lula , but they are biggest gangsters in this planet, they alaw all this happens, lets be serious in the research

  22. The best prime minister he never had. Corbyn is the genuine article and the only politician I trust
