In the opening scene, the horse is wearing a full bridle with two reins. Then, at 0:44 there aren't any reins attached to the bit. Instead, a single rein is attached to a head stall/halter. When the actor secures the horse to a post, he uses two reins. As the rider leaves, at 3:49, they are using two reins, again.
